Hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as "funny and fresh-voiced", tenor Gary Ruschman
appears regularly in concert, opera, jazz, theatre,
studio, and chamber music settings, but with special love for contemporary and historically
informed performance. His performances include principal light lyric and character tenor roles in more than thirty operas, musicals, and plays, as well as an extended concert repertoire.
Gary has toured the globe as a long-time member of CANTUS vocal ensemble, serving multiple terms on the ensemble's artistic leadership and Board of Directors.
He has maintained private vocal studios in the Twin Cities, Greater Cincinnati, and San Francisco Bay Areas, and provided musical direction for numerous projects and concert programs. For more than a decade, Gary has worked extensively in educational outreach for vocal ensembles and young performers. His critically-acclaimed vocal and choral arrangements have been performed and recorded throughout North America.
